| I have read many photographers statements about their philosophy or their interpretations or their “approach”. I have always believed, however, that the pictures say it all. Either you like them or you don’t. All the explanations and rationalizations won’t change that simple fact. So, rather than read about my theories of light and color, please look at my pictures. I hope you like them and that they “speak” to you better than anything I could write. With food, I try to make it look appetizing, not “chic”. Food should look good enough to eat not make a fashion statement. I personally don’t think blue food makes anybody hungry. My landscapes and outdoor photographs are meant to celebrate the beauty and wonder of nature, to foster appreciation of the natural world, both big and small. My personal style is to try to make the shooting experience as relaxed and enjoyable for the client as possible. I come to work in jeans and sneakers because it’s who I am. For food photographs, I like shooting at the client’s premises. He or she usually has everything they need to make their presentation as perfect as possible and they are more relaxed in familiar surroundings. There is nothing worse for a chef than trying to navigate in a strange kitchen. So, as the saying goes, no project is too big or too small. If you like my pictures and think my style fits your project, please email me at: don@DonGregoryPhotography.com or call me at: (401) 345-7048. I would love to talk to you. |
